The principles behind ROKH.

These principles guide how ROKH is being built and how we intend to work with artists, audiences and cultural partners.

Attribution is permanent

Contributions belong in the record with their author and date. Recognition of the people behind the work is a lasting part of the archive.

Permissions are explicit

An artwork’s rights remain with its rights holder. Publication in ROKH needs agreed permission, and collecting a digital card does not transfer copyright. Any commercial use needs its own agreement.

Culture comes with context

Each card is intended to carry a factual cultural note in Persian and English. Art, history and contemporary creativity deserve careful context as well as a compelling image.

Participation stays accessible

The core cultural experience is being designed for free participation. Supporting ROKH financially should never buy better collecting odds or put the archive behind a paid gate. ROKH makes no promise of financial return.

Support respects cultural independence

Partnerships should help worthwhile cultural work happen. Funding does not buy control over cultural standards, privileged collecting opportunities or access to personal user data.

Opportunities have clear terms

Funded projects and commercial collaborations are still being developed. A confirmed opportunity will state its scope, compensation, permissions and responsibilities before work begins. Participation alone is not a promise of income.

Preservation needs practical answers

Before public launch, we intend to explain how collection records and artwork are preserved, what export facilities are available, and their limits. Specific continuity or export guarantees will be published only when those arrangements exist.

Specific participation and collaboration terms will accompany the programmes they apply to. This page describes the principles guiding development.
